Max Bauer

Senior Pro

Max is a Philadelphia resident, who grew up in San Diego, CA.  His journey in tennis commenced during his formative years, competing in junior tennis within the USTA Southern California division. His most fond memories during this period include winning two CIF High School Championships and competing in Father-Son Doubles with his dad.

In 2010, Max joined the Sonoma State University Men’s team as a freshman. In his free time, he began to teach local players and quickly discovered a passion for teaching the sport, initiating his foray into coaching. Upon graduating college, Max moved back to San Diego where he obtained his USPTA certification and began a teaching career at the San Dieguito Tennis Club as Director of Junior Development. From 2014-2019, he spearheaded the development of a previously non-existent department and crafted it into a thriving junior program from scratch.

Although most of his time on-court has been spent teaching junior players, Max’s passion for the game extends to players of all ages and skill levels. He finds the most gratifying facet of his racquet sports career in the deep connections he’s established with his students. He has learned that while tennis education is important, establishing life-long philosophies in work ethic, developing team relationships, and enjoying time spent on the tennis court is essential to the long term satisfaction that every student deserves.
