Mark Korman is president of the commercial division of Korman Communities where he oversees its retail & office holdings as well as all multi-family land development and construction.
Mark recently joined the board of Legacy Youth Tennis after transitioning off the board of Philadelphia Youth Basketball (PYB). However, Mark remains on PYB’s property committee. Mark also sits on Villanova’s Executive Parent Committee. He is a former trustee of the Community Partnership School (although still active on its steering committee), Lower Gwynedd Little League, and The Ambler Theater. Also, Mark served on Thomas Jefferson University Hospital’s Real Estate Committee for 5 years. Mark has also served on various committees for Whitpain Rec Assoc., Project HOME, Germantown Academy, and Duke University (where he also served as local interviewer). Mark coached youth sports at all levels for thirteen years, and still counts that time as his most fulfilling.
Korman Communities is a fully integrated real estate company with development, investment and management capabilities operating from Boston, to the New York Metro area, throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, as well as Texas, Arizona, California, and London. The residential portfolio is comprised of 25 properties under two brands: AKA provides luxury serviced residences and hotels, and AVE provides luxury market rate and short-term furnished residences.
Mark oversees the commercial holdings which includes Class A office buildings, shopping centers, and mixed-use commercial. He also handles all land development for the AVE Brand in the North East/Mid Atlantic. Korman’s real estate roots date back to 1919 when Mark’s great grandfather began developing homes and apartments in the Philadelphia area. Mark’s father and his two siblings are the third and fourth generations of the family to operate the company. Mark’s father, Steven H. Korman, is founding partner of The Korman Company and former CEO of Korman Communities. Steve also founded KormanSuites Apartments in the 80’s. Mark Korman is a 1986 alumnus of Germantown Academy and a 1990 alumnus of Duke University. He has been married to Kelly since 1995 and together, they have two children, Cameron (24) and Quin (21).
