Joe Heckley grew up in San Jose, California, before playing Division I tennis at Niagara University. He later earned his Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Psychology from Northern Arizona University where he was also the assistant tennis coach, combining his passion for tennis with a deeper understanding of how people learn, develop, and perform.

Joe’s coaching experience spans collegiate, junior, and club tennis. He has coached across NCAA Division I, II, and III programs while working with players of all ages and abilities. His coaching journey has also included time at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island, and Chelsea Piers in Connecticut, where he had the opportunity to coach alongside 17-time Grand Slam doubles champion Gigi Fernández.

Joe enjoys coaching players of all ages and skill levels, with a special passion for helping junior players prepare for college tennis. His coaching style is positive, encouraging, and goal-oriented, with an emphasis on strong fundamentals, intentional practice, mental resilience, and building confidence. Whether working with a beginner learning the game or a competitive player striving for the next level, Joe believes every lesson should be purposeful, engaging, and tailored to the individual.
