Out of School Time (OST) is an initiative by the Philadelphia Department of Human Services that connects inner city youth to various programming that would otherwise be unstructured time. Both youth and their families benefit from this programming in a number of ways as it supports working parents, enriches a child’s social development, and serves as an intervention between children and high risk behavior.
LEGACY has been proudly partnering with the city of Philadelphia to provide OST programming at three schools for the past few years – Alexander K. McClure, Overbrook Educational Center, and Richard R. Wright. We are thrilled to announce that in addition to renewing these existing contracts, we have also been awarded a new contract for the 2023-2024 school year with Joseph Pennell Elementary School. This site will have 46 slots, ultimately increasing overall OST programming to an impressive 336 students.
We are proud and eager to grow this already cherished partnership with the city, as we know just how essential OST programming is in supporting so many Philadelphia kids.
