Thank you to the LEGACY community for a night to remember at the Please Touch Museum. It was a truly remarkable evening honoring legend John McEnroe, hearing tales from his incredible career, and sharing in the inspiring work he’s doing today with The Johnny Mac Tennis Project. The night was a reminder of how far your dreams can take you if you have the right support, and we are honored to help so many kids live out their dreams on the tennis court and in life.
During a priceless sit-down conversation, attendees got to hear firsthand all about the path that led McEnroe to where he is today. The conversation even inspired a few guests to bid head-to-head on a one-hour hit with Johnny Mac himself! Talk about a priceless experience!
Sportscenter and ESPN Journalist Chris McKendry made for the perfect emcee; not only because of her Philly roots, but also because she and John go way back in their professional careers. The two had natural banter made for an engaging and entertaining evening.
Many former and current Philadelphia City Council members were in attendance. Council President Kenyatta Johnson delivered a proclamation recognizing John McEnroe for his accomplishments and community contributions.
“Found-object” artist Leo Sewell also attended; his larger-than-life Hand and Torch statue served as the perfect program backdrop in Hamilton Hall, where we also auctioned off his donated Scottie Dog statue in the same style.
Local reporters Dave Leno and John Clark co-emceed, leading the live fundraising portion of the program. The pair got attendees excited, and even brought a bit of friendly competition to the auction. They made the night feel like a live sporting event and helped deliver a truly fun and successful program.
An extra special thank you to Carolyn and Alan Lindy and the rest of the Lindy Family for sponsoring at the Grand Slam level. Your generosity is inspiring and we are so grateful for your continuous support.
Thank you sponsors, attendees, donors, staff, and volunteers. YOU made this a night to remember, and your support means so much to LEGACY and our kids. We can’t wait for next year!
