On Friday, October 18th, only a few days after the end of Hispanic Heritage Month students and staff of LEGACY’s McClure OST program came together to celebrate! Students went from classroom to classroom to participate in activities such as a book reading of Frederico the Wolf, a children’s book about making traditional Pico de Gallo that includes both English and Spanish. Teachers and students took turns reading the book to each other and afterwards worked on a coloring page from the book. In another classroom, students learned hispanic heritage trivia and earned prizes for getting questions right!
In the cafeteria, 4th and 5th grade students worked on making homemade pico de gallo for their classmates. Students combined chopped tomatoes, cilantro, onions, and limes together and then served their fresh pico de gallo to their classmates at their very own LEGACY restaurant.
This was an incredible event and we can’t wait for more!
